Autoimmune Disease and Reflexology Presentation by Keri Wood

Autoimmunity is when the immune system mistakenly attacks the body’s own healthy tissues instead of foreign invaders like bacteria and viruses.  This malfunction can lead to various conditions called autoimmune diseases which can affect one organ or multiple parts of the body, from the skin and joints to the nerves and internal organs.  Examples include Type 1 diabetes, rheumatoid arthritis and multiple sclerosis.

The immune system fails to recognize the body’s own cells and creates autoantibodies that attack healthy tissues.  This causes inflammation, damage to cells and organs,and a range of symptoms that vary depending on the specific disease.

Autoimmune diseases result in chronic conditions for which there is currently no cure, but symptoms can be managed with treatment.  (Source AI)

This workshop will look at reflexology techniques which support the immune system and assist with symptoms of autoimmune conditions.

 

About the presenter:

Keri Wood is a qualified reflexologist for more than 20 years.  She has attended training in the UK and Australia.  Keri now teaches and examines internationally in reflexology and aromatherapy.  She is currently the Board Chair and the Footprints Editor at the Reflexology Association of Australia.
